Arou

Arou is a small village facing the sea in the heart of A Costa da Morte, with an amazing beach that in summer time is full of tourists and neighbors sunbathing and swimming in its clean waters.

Historically, although there aren´t any records, Arou is believed to have had some “castros” as there are sources of water and it has a kind of strategic position that allows to see all the sea and protect them from any sea incursions. These reasons make us believe that also in the Middle Ages there was a settlement in the area as the remains of an old chapel that may have been where, currently, it is the chapel Saint Bartolo.

The next stage will take us to CapeVilán and Camariñas, which is a unique, rugged stretch on the coast in the world: A Costa da Morte.
