Mar de Fondo Restaurant is located in the center of Laxe. What began as a seafood tavern has quickly become one of the culinary temples of A Costa da Morte.
Unadulterated seafood and fish prepared with exquisite care are its hallmarks. Sea bass, turbot, sea bass, sole, red mullet, and scorpion fish purchased directly from the Laxe fish market, just a few meters from the restaurant, guarantee the quality of a product that customers can see on the restaurant’s display.
As starters, the most popular items are razor clams, scallops, and clams, although they sometimes also offer shrimp, sea urchins, and the famous local barnacles. The lobster salpicón and ceviche are also delicious.
The way they present the octopus is surprising, with whole pieces cooked on the grill, preserving all the flavor of this cephalopod. Fried rock mullet, grilled turbot, Saint Martin’s fish, and grilled fish are other specialties. Let them advise you, as the menu changes depending on the availability at the fish market.
Although it’s primarily a fish restaurant, they also offer a beef entrecote to satisfy carnivores.
Finally, some desserts that are just as good as the rest, such as the creamy cheesecake, the hazelnut tart, or the tiramisu.
As you might guess, this isn’t a cheap restaurant, but the price/quality ratio is more than acceptable.
