Punta Buitra

From Cachelmo we descend along a very demanding path that will take us to a small track of the small beach Arnela which is in an unspoiled area.

Upon reaching the end of the paved road, the path continues uphill along the only existing path through the pine trees until reaching the Buitra track.

Punta Buitra is another of the jutting outcrops along this winding Muxía coast, allowing you to walk right over the ocean. The dirt track that runs to the end allows us a little rest for our legs during this challenging stretch…

…while still enjoying beautiful views of the sea breaking against the cliffs of Monte Cachelmo and Arnela beach.

As we reach the end, the landscape changes completely, and the Cuño cliffs and the tip of Cabo Touriñán are the ones we’ll be keeping in mind from now on. We climb the trail to the top of Punta Buitra…

… and then descend the Cuño cliffs, which leave us speechless. The mountain drops abruptly, forming several peaks where the sea constantly crashes, filling everything with foam.

The stretch isn’t easy… continuous efforts are compensated by stops, during which it seems like we’re flying over the sea of Muxía.

Another stretch of rugged coastline, another granite mass protecting us from the constant pounding of the Atlantic Ocean, which knows no respite.

So we arrive at Coído de Cuño, where we’ll make a long and well-deserved stop.
