Nariga Mount

From Puerto de Barizo, the most difficult part of this stage begins. The 3 kilometers that separate us from the Nariga Lighthouse take us along a spectacular coastal path, but narrow, uneven, and steep, which begins at the port pier, climbing over some rocks.

The climb is tough, so we recommend making stops as needed, resting on the flat rocks and admiring the spectacular landscape of the Barizo Inlet.

The rocks at Punta Nariga are not like the ones we’ve seen before. Large granite formations, shaped by water and wind into the most varied shapes, dot this coastal route.

From here, the route eases off a bit in the Punta Cabalo area, before reaching Punta de Ensubelas, where the sea breaks violently.

From there, the final climb follows a path between gorse bushes and, at times, crawls on the rocks themselves until reaching As Barreiras Heights…

… from where we can already see the Punta Nariga lighthouse and the coast of Niñóns and Roncudo.

On the descent, we will never lose sight of the lighthouse, framed in every possible way by the large rocks that cover Monte de Nariga.
