Casa do Arrueiro (Soesto)

Casa do Arrueiro is located in Soesto, 2 km from Soesto Beach and 4 km from Laxe. The architecture of an old Galician farmhouse and the rustic charm of old reclaimed furniture transport you back to the roots of authenticity, combined with modern amenities and decorative details for a fresh, contemporary feel.

Arrueiro breaks away from the stereotypes of a classic Galician rural house and offers a warm space where you feel welcomed, sheltered, and welcomed. A peaceful and friendly atmosphere evokes that feeling of peace and relaxation “just like being at home.”

THE CASA DO ARRUEIRO

The house has a total of 7 double rooms, 1 room adapted for guests with reduced mobility, and 1 two-story apartment (all with private bathrooms).

The main house consists of a ground floor containing the reception and a cozy common room with a beautiful lareira (traditional fireplace) featuring two wood-burning ovens and a sofa area where you can browse a book, connect to the Wi-Fi, share interesting conversations, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, and be enchanted by the mesmerizing fire in the colder months.

Also on the ground floor is the restaurant. Breakfast (included in the accommodation price) is served in the dining room, as well as a six-course tasting menu for lunch and dinner (for both in-house and out-of-town guests).

On the first floor of the house, there are seven double rooms, all equipped with private bathrooms.

Attached to the house are two small stone cottages that house: one double room adapted for people with reduced mobility (O Cabanote), one independent two-story apartment (Casa de Canto), and Biloba’s craft workshop.

The house also features an outdoor area paved with large, centuries-old flagstones and a dreamy garden area with a eira and two granaries.

STANDARD ROOM
This room type is standard-sized and can have one double bed or two single beds pushed together. It includes a wardrobe, table or desk, and a full private bathroom inside the room equipped with a bathtub, towels, toiletries, and a hairdryer. The standard double room offers views of the mountainside behind the house. *TV (only available upon request)

SUPERIOR ROOM
This room type is larger than the standard double room and can have either 1 double bed or 2 single beds pushed together. It has a wardrobe, table or desk, and a private full bathroom inside the room equipped with a bathtub, towels, toiletries, and a hairdryer. The Superior Double Room offers beautiful views of the countryside and the front of the house. *TV (only available upon request)

CASA DE CANTO
This house was once called “Casa de Canto.” This room type offers more privacy, as it is located in one of the stone cottages attached to the main house, with access to a charming tree-lined garden area with a wrought-iron table and chairs.

The apartment is divided into two floors. The ground floor features a small kitchenette and living room equipped with an electric stove, microwave, fridge-freezer, and basic utensils for preparing a simple meal.

It also includes a sofa, TV, and pellet stove. Also on the ground floor is the private bathroom, equipped with a shower, towels, free toiletries, and a hairdryer. Upstairs, the apartment features an open loft-style sleeping area with a wardrobe, two 105 cm single beds pushed together, and two small beds that can be folded away. Casa de Canto is the most suitable accommodation for families of up to two adults and two children. *TV (available upon request only)

O CABANOTE
This double room is adapted for guests with reduced mobility. It is very spacious and has two single beds, a small seating area with a pellet stove, and a flat-screen TV. It has a very spacious private bathroom, also adapted with a walk-in shower, grab bars, and an adjustable sink and mirror. Towels, a hairdryer, and toiletries are provided. The adapted double room is located in one of the stone cottages attached to the main house and offers views of the house’s exterior and the surrounding forest. It offers adapted access to the dining room, where breakfast is included.

RESTAURANT FROM LAND AND SEA TO THE TABLE

Restaurant with a 6-course tasting menu that fuses tradition and modernity. The authentic taste of the cuisine of yesteryear. A tribute to our roots combined with more contemporary preparations and techniques, using fresh, local produce.

Victor’s cuisine is soulful. Sensitive and creative. After working in several hotel and restaurant kitchens, he wants to offer a more personal approach in Arrueiro. A small restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere allows him to develop cuisine with more care, detail, and sensitivity. He wants to be more present, able to talk to the customer, and offer a warm, friendly atmosphere.

TASTING MENU

At Arrueiro, I propose a 6-course journey towards authenticity.

This is a gastronomic menu with 5 savory courses + 1 sweet course, focusing on local produce, which will vary according to the season and the market. We work with the local fish market and other local suppliers, always using fresh, seasonal produce.

A “chup-chup” cuisine, a tribute to our mothers and grandmothers who prepared their broths over low heat, with sautéed dishes that enhance the flavors. A cuisine rooted in roots, but fused with more contemporary techniques and preparations that result in original and flavorful dishes.

Menu price: between €40 and €45* (wine cellar not included)

You don’t have to stay at the house to come to the restaurant.

Workshops on crafts, photography, cooking, yoga, self-discovery… or simply gatherings where we can tell stories, share knowledge, and be inspired. We have many ideas to make Arrueiro a place where we can nourish ourselves and live experiences that remind us that we can live differently, in a more authentic and human way.

WHO WE ARE

We are Luisa and Victor.

Some time ago, we began to visualize a dream: to unite our passions: cooking and the desire to bring warmth and well-being to others. We wanted to do it in the rural Costa da Morte, close to home, in a setting surrounded by nature and tranquility, a very beautiful and charming place.

They say you have to be careful what you ask of life, because it might just come true… and in our case, it did. At Arrueiro, we’ve found the place where we can share what we want to contribute to the world: offering experiences that bring you calm and inspiration, that somehow help nourish body and soul and contribute to creating memorable memories.
